Witchcraft and Hastings Bypass.

Date: 3 May, 2008
From: Kevin Carlyonk, St Leonards on Sea, UK
E-mail: kevincarlyon@aol.com

Hi folks its White Witch Kevin Carlyon. I'd like to give advance information that major protests will take place regarding the Hastings Bypass. Not just people with plackards but the tree folk and those who live underground - ie the same sort of protest as the Newbury Bypass.
The protest will be led by myself and King Arthur Pendragon (not the original but a warrior like person who changed his name by deedpoll and won the right to carry a sword in public through the European Court of Human Rights.

The local council have no guilt about destroying the countryside and the habitat of many animals. All they are interestes in is development on the bypass.

My curse goes out to Hastings Council, supporters of the bypass and those who try to build it. May My Magic Be With You

From: Jason, Swansea, South Wales
E-mail: genfind@aol.com

Hi everyone - Does anyone out there rmember or have any connections to the GURR family from the Bexhill, Battle or Hastings areas.
I am currently trying to find out what happened to Louisa GURR (Nee STIMSON) after a fatal car crash in Hastings in 1984. I am trying to find out if she was buried or cremated and where her remains are now so that I may visit the area.
I have been in touch with Hastings Reference Library who I am still waiting to hear from but if anyone out there knows or remembers anything then I would just love to hear from you.
Even if you have a genuine interest in the genealogy of this family and the STIMSON family then I would love to swap info !
Thanks everyone

A Valentine Prayer

Date: 03 February, 2006
From: Bonnie L. Kern, Des Moines, Iowa, United States
E-mail: bonleek952@msn.com

I am trying to help my boyfriend, Terry Lee Ruport, find his daughter, Alaina Marie Ruport. He married her mother, Kim Elizabeth Jones, in England while he was in the Air Force. They moved back to Waterloo, Iowa, United States, after he got out of the Air Force. Kim took Alaina, his wonderful daughter, to England on vacation in 1994. Kim called Terry when she and Alaina were supposed to come home, told him that she was pregnant with another man's child, that she and Alaina would not be returning, and that he would no longer be able to talk with Alaina because it upset her too much. Terry lost all contact with his daughter and his life pretty much fell apart. He used alcohol and drugs to cope with the pain of not being able to hold, see, or even talk with his precious Alaina. In the past three years he has joined several 12-step programs and has maintained sobriety. He has gained employment and we have a wonderful relationship. It would be a wonderful Valentine suprise for Terry if I could help him contact his daughter on her birthday, February 14th.

I am looking for my family genealogy in Hastings. My great great grandfather was Alfred Wootton, born in Hastings, England on Feb 14, 1845. At the age of 14 he stowed away on a ship. He later enlisted on a British merchant ship and made a total of five ocean crossings. We are told his father was John Wootton, a tailor, and his mother was Ann Wootton. He had a sister named Sarah who married Phillips Fermor (a baker) in Aug 14, 1870, at St Mary in the Castle. He lived at 73 Stonefield Road, Hastings. Any information that you could share would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Researching the Thurgar family

Date: 31 March, 2005
From: Lorne Thurgar, Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea
E-mail: ffc_00@hotmail.com.au

I am a third generation Australian. My great grandparents were born in France and Canada. My Great Grandfather Edmund Walter Thurgar was born in St Germain France in 1855. My Great Grandmother Mary McKenzie Chalmers was born in Barrie Ontario Canada in 1858. Both were married in London on 10 December 1877 (my wife and I married unknowingly 111 years to the day after them). Edmund Walter was apparently in the French Army and lost a leg somehow. They arrived in Australia in 1885 on the SS Peterborough although I cant find any reference to that vessel anywhere. 3 children came to Aus with my GP's and apparently one son died at birth (Phillip)just before they left. Interestingly he had a twin brother who survived (Eric) according to records I have (kindly donated by Dave Thurgar in Canada) indicating that he not only survived but later married and had other children. Please, if anyone can help me to continue my research I can be reached on the above address or in Aus on thurgar.oz@bigpond.com.au

Date: 06 December, 2004
From: David Yarbrough, Texas, United States
E-mail: dtsgy@advantexmail.net

I am looking up my father-in-laws family history. I have tracked possible relations that served under William the Conqueror in 1066. His surname is Harris, I beleive that Harris recieved land from William in 1066. It might be possible the land at that time, is where Marsham Le Hatch will be built in 1760. Would anyone have information on the history of the land before the castle construction or further history on Harris in or around Hastings. Any help would be great, I am trying to finish this family biography by Christmas as his gift.

Thank you,
Dave

what do you think of the topography of hastings?
does it affect your every day life?
the way you communicate to one and other?
do you like and enjoy the topography?
is there a particular spot in hasting where you consider to give you hastings experience or ore valley experience.
Is the topography of hastings similar, same or different to the topography of ore valley.
do you feel to be whole as hasting or ore valley only.

I would love to hear your views as it would greatly influence my work and research of ore valley specifically.

My memory is fading !!

Date: 26 April, 2004
From: Peter Davies, Adelaide, Australia
E-mail: peter.davies@aph.gov.au

I used to live on the Marina at St Leonards but that was 20 years ago. I was showing a friend some pics of the area and he was interested in the "big building on the seafront". I can't recall if it had a title or name.

The building in question is the multi storey apartment block with a colonnade of shops on the ground floor - Cherry's pub is (or was)on the end. As you look down the esplanade from Hastings it is the most notable landmark on the Marina as it curves away towards West St Leonards. Always reminded me of a cruise liner in appearance.

Can anybody tell me if it has a name? I've tried googling on lots of possibilities but can't find it anywhere.

Thanks for your help folks.

Cheers from Adelaide.

I am alsolooking for the Montgomery/Hill branch. I had a copy of my pedigree created at the turn of the century but it was lost in a fire and I would like to recreate it. I also have Bernard Law Montgomery on my tree. I would appreciate any data I can find.
Thankyou

Looking for the children of FRANK VENNER.

Date: 20 April, 2004
From: Bobbi, Duncan, Canada
E-mail: electric.bob@shaw.ca

I'm looking for info on a Frank Venner who lived in the Hastings, Rye area. If alive he would be over ninety. I believe he has children and would like to make contact.

In the thirties he was married, or lived with a woman named Ellen,(nell)parsons.

His mother was married to a man named Knightinggale, also a Tom Mitchell.

Frank had two spinster aunts named Olive and Clare. Frank also had a brother named John.

I belive Frank or John drove a bus. Frank worked on a farm also in the Rye area.

Frank's mother lived on Old London Rd. This all dates back to the 1920's

Any info or direction to help me find this family is appreciated.
Thanks, Bobbi

Hello anybody,
I'm trying to get some information about the Priory Meadow Cricket ground, anybody got any memories of it? As well as dates, size, how many people it could fit, etc, I'm also interested in: what days did they play, what other sports were played there, whether any famous people came to play there, and any other stories of interest about it. And why was it demolished???

Thanks anyone for your help, email me at the address above.

LOOKING FOR CHRIS AND DAVE ANDERSON IN KIHI KIHI?

Date: 24 February, 2004
From: Dottie Holt, Telford, England
E-mail: dotandtim@btinternet.com

I met Chrissie and Dave Anderson when they were in England, living in Gloucester. They moved to Kihi Kihi (where Dave is from I think originally). However we lost touch. On the last count they had 3 children, Chris and Dave would be (I think in their forties by now). If anyone knows of their whereabouts please give them my email address. My first husband Dave, whom they knew has also died, hence I am now with my new husband Tim. Our email is dotandtim@btinternet.com

My dad during World War 2

Date: 18 February, 2004
From: Beverly, Port Colborne, Canada
E-mail: duke13ez@sprint.ca

My dad was stationed in England during the 2nd world war. He stayed with an aunt who lived at 19 Cranley Road in Portsmouth. I have never been to England. I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this street and how it looks. I was curious.

My dad was 82 in 2002 when he passed away. He told us stories about England and the war. Recently, I found an address of his aunt's who he stayed with when stationed during the war in England and found this website.

If anyone can tell me anything about this street (there wouldn't be anyone I would know now because everyone is long gone) I would appreciate it.

Beverly
